Embalenhle, Mpumalanga — Three members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) were arrested on Thursday, 20 November 2025, following a protracted investigation by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) into the murder of Mphilisi Daniel Mba in the Mpumalanga region.
Provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Jabu Ndubane confirmed that the arrests took place at about 15h30 and that the accused are expected to appear in the Evander Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 21 November 2025.
Major-General Zeph Mkhwanazi, acting provincial commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga, emphasized that “no one is above the law”, urging all officers to conduct themselves in accordance with the Constitution and internal codes of conduct.
The details of the murder and the roles of the arrested officers have not yet been publicly disclosed. Investigators continue to gather evidence under the oversight of IPID.
