South African Football Association (SAFA) President Danny Jordaan is set to appear in court over alleged misuse of SAFA funds.

According to SABC News, Jordaan is scheduled to appear before the Johannesburg High Court on November 13, 2024, facing charges of fraud, theft, and improper use of SAFA resources.

He is accused of spending R1.3 million to hire a communications firm in an effort to restore his public image after facing sexual assault allegations from an ANC MP.

The civil rights organization #NotInMyName has called for Jordaan’s resignation.

The group’s Secretary-General, Themba Masango, has suggested that more charges may follow and urged Jordaan to step aside until the matter is resolved.

Recent reports state that Sports, Arts, and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie met with Jordaan shortly after taking office.
