The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a level four alert for disruptive rainfall expected across KwaZulu-Natal from Tuesday, warning residents to prepare for potentially severe weather conditions.
The province, which has recently experienced flooding, may face renewed flood risks due to the forecasted heavy rain covering most regions.
In response, the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) has confirmed that disaster management teams are on high alert and ready to respond to any emergencies.
COGTA spokesperson Senzelwe Mzila said that teams are closely monitoring the situation and will intervene where needed. MEC Buthelezi has urged residents to remain cautious and vigilant as weather conditions deteriorate.
