Pretoria – President Jacob Zuma has on Tuesday sent a message of condolence to President Mamnoon Hussain as well as the Government and people of Pakistan, following a terrorist attack.
The attack took place at a hospital in the city of Quetta on Monday, leaving at least 70 people dead and over 100 injured.
President Zuma said deliberate attacks against hospitals were in contravention of well-established international human rights and humanitarian law and constitute a crime against humanity.
“The South African Government condemns in the strongest terms the inhumane and gruesome terrorist attack against a hospital in Pakistan. Terrorism in any form and from whichever quarter cannot be condoned.
“South Africa stands firmly with the international community in condemning all terrorism,” he said.
The President said South Africa will continue to support regional and international efforts to address the scourge of terrorism in all its forms.
“The Government and people of South Africa extend deepest condolences to the Government and people of Pakistan and especially to the families of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery,” said President Zuma.
