Pretoria – Gauteng Premier David Makhura has sent his best wishes to all matriculants who will be sitting for their final exams.
“To the class of 2016, may all your hard work, dedication and commitment throughout the year bear fruit as you sit for your final exams, which will mark the end of your basic education. I am convinced that you will do well in the exams and make all of us proud.
“I would also like to urge teachers, parents and guardians to give the learners the support that they need as they prepare to write their exams,” said Premier Makhura.
There are 112 192 registered full-time and 41 781 part-time candidates in the 2016 examinations in the province. Nationally, there are approximately 668 612 full-time and 146 997 part-time candidates for the 2016 National Senior Certificate examinations. The Independent Examinations Board has registered 11 821 full-time candidates across the country and 34 part-time candidates in 230 examination centres.
These examinations will take place at more than 7 000 centres across the country and will be marked by over 38 000 markers.
