Polokwane City strikers Puleng Tlolane and Thobani Mncwango are both back on the radar of Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants Orlando Pirates. Rise and Shine have had a good season thus far accumulating 21 points from 15 PSL matches which sees them placed fifth on league table. Their star strikers Tlolane, 25, and Mncwango, 29, have both contributed three league goals each and their performances have gone unnoticed. Mamelodi Sundowns, Bidvest, Wits, kaizer Chiefs as well as Pirates are believed to be interested in Tlolane, while Bucs are also pursuing Mncwango again.
But a source within the Polokwane camp has revealed that the management of the club are not willing to part ways with their best players in January as they are pushing for a top eight finish. “Yes, the interest is there from big Gauteng clubs including Pirates, who are very keen,” the source told Goal. “But the senior officials are against selling both players this month, because they believe that it would destabilize the team,” the source continued. “Finishing in the top eight this season remains our top priority. The coach (Luc Eymael) has built a good team with a winning mentality,” the source concluded. Rise and Shine extended Mncwango’s contract by two years at the end of last season with Pirates believed to be chasing his signature. His teammate Tlolane has been linked with Bucs since the 2014/15 season and his current Polokwane deal will expire in just over five months’ time.
