Police are investigating a case of murder, after a well-known community leader was gunned down in the Angelo’s informal settlement in Boksburg in Gauteng in the East Rand on Monday night.
Thomas Sibuyi was a leader among the area’s community patrollers, and was a Democratic Alliance (DA) branch chairperson of Ward 33.
Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says Sibuyi was shot in his upper body multiple times at close range.
Sibuyi said, “When we arrived we found the deceased lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. As for now we don’t have information as to say who are the suspects, and we don’t know what the motive is behind the shooting … but we’ve started with our investigation and we’re appealing to the community, that if there’s anyone who’s got information that can help us to please come forward and give us information.”
