NOMA KHUMALO ENDS 7-YEAR MALE REIGN, WINS IDOLSSA

JOHANNESBURG – Congratulations are in order for Noma Khumalo who has been crowned the 2016 winner of Idols South Africa.

Khumalo ended the seven-year male reign in the competition which is in its twelfth season.

In a tight race against rival, Thami Shobede, the substitute teacher was announced the ultimate Idol after a record vote that saw over 83 million votes cast throughout the season.

The end of the season also marked the end of Gareth Cliff’s involvement as a judge.

He is set to pursue his business interests.

Some of the top artists who performed included AKA, Kelly Khumalo, Unathi, and last year’s Idols winner, Karabo Mogane.

Khumalo joins previous winners Mogane, Vincent Bones, Heinz Winckler, Anke Pietrangeli, Karin Kortje, Jody Williams, Jason Hartman, Sasha-Lee Davids, Dave van Vuuren, Khaya Mthethwa and Musa Sukwene.

The finale took place at Carnival City on Sunday night
