PARLIAMENT – From Friday, Parliament will operate under a new set of rules.
MPs have adopted overhauled House rules for the first time since the dawn of democracy.
These include the Rules Committee preparing dress code guidelines. The ANC says the guidelines are aimed at “excluding attire unbecoming of the decorum of the House”.
The new rules also allow for the removal of members who, after advice and warning, insist on disrupting proceedings.
The ANC has denied the changes were made with any particular parties or individuals in mind.
