“This is to announce the sudden death of my father Mr. Babatunde Omidina, the legend and rare gem ‘Baba Suwe’ 11/22/21,”.
The actor battled with his health and was admitted on several occasions due to diabetes and high blood pressure. He received donations from many actors, including TAMPAN, after which he traveled for treatment abroad.
The actor was born on August 22, 1958, Baba Suwe gained mainstream recognition after he was featured in the movie ‘Omolasan’.
His fame grew following his feature in ‘Iru Esin’. The Lagos State indigene started acting in 1971 and has featured and produced several Nigerian movies.
In 2011, he was accused of cocaine trafficking by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) but the allegation was dismissed by a Lagos High Court. Woli Arole went round states, looking for Nollywood legends & he honored Babasuwe while alive despite health challenges.
I won’t say he was neglected but we can take care of them while still alive.
RIP Legend of comedy!

The problem with the Davido charity donation, is the same problem with Baba Suwe dying, and with a million other things.
Raising money is only half the problem, if not the minor issue.
Accurately deploying money where it can efficiently do the maximum good is the real problem.
