Injuries have been a recurring theme for Neymar Junior, who recently returned to the field after being sidelined for over a year.
Unfortunately, during his second match back on Monday in the AFC Champions League, the Brazilian star suffered yet another injury.
Following the match, Neymar provided an update on his health after being substituted during Al Hilal’s game against Esteghlal FC.
The Brazilian star offered an optimistic outlook, stating that he will undergo further tests to rule out any serious injury.
“I experienced a strong cramp, but I hope it’s nothing more,” he posted on his Instagram Stories in Portuguese.
“It’s normal for this to happen after one year, the doctors had already warned me. This is why I need to be careful and have more minutes to play,” he acknowledged.
This match marked Neymar’s second appearance for Al Hilal after more than a year away from the sport.
He came on as a substitute in the 57th minute but had to exit shortly thereafter because of a thigh muscle issue. After stretching to reach a pass, he immediately grabbed his leg and signaled for a substitution.
Neymar’s comeback follows his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and a meniscus injury in his left leg, which he sustained while playing for Brazil during the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in October 2023.
His recovery process has been slow as he was not registered to play in the initial part of the Saudi Pro League this season.
Although he underwent surgery and returned to training in July, he faced several setbacks along the way.
Recently, Neymar revealed the emotional toll of his absence from the game, stating that he “suffers each day” he is away.
