JOHANNESBURG – The petrol price is to increase by 86c cents a litre for 93 octane and 88 cents per litre for 95 octane from Wednesday‚ the Department of Energy confirmed on Monday.
This would take the price for 95 in inland areas to R12.62 while 93 would increase to R12.32. In coastal areas, 95 would cost R12.39 and 93 would be R12.06.
The price of diesel would increase by between 95.7 and 97.7 cents per litre‚ while paraffin will cost 76 cents a litre more.
The department said the increase included the higher fuel levies. In the Budget in February, the Minister of Finance announced that the fuel levy on petrol and diesel would increase by 30 cents per litre with effect from April 6.
