DALLAS – Bishop T.D. Jakes, the renowned pastor of Dallas’s Potter’s House church, experienced a medical scare during a live broadcast of his Sunday sermon, prompting concern among parishioners and viewers.

The 67-year-old preacher was delivering his morning message while seated on stage when he appeared to struggle physically. In a video captured by an audience member, Jakes is seen wiping sweat from his brow with a cloth, stating, “I still love to preach. I ain’t tired of preaching.”

Shortly after, he continued with his sermon but paused mid-prayer as he began trembling. Realizing something was amiss, members of the congregation rushed to assist him. A voice over the church’s speakers called for prayers, and the live broadcast was cut.

The church later released a statement on Instagram reassuring followers of Jakes’ condition. “During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message,” the statement read. “Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals. The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community.”

Jakes’ daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, and her husband, Touré Roberts, also addressed the incident in an Instagram update on Sunday evening. “We didn’t want to go to bed without giving you all an update about how things are going with Bishop,” Sarah said in the video, thanking supporters for their prayers and concern.

Touré echoed her sentiments, adding, “Obviously today could have been a tragic day, but it wasn’t—by the mercy of God, by the grace of God. Bishop is doing well. He’s recovering, under medical care, and strong.”

The couple expressed gratitude for the support shown by the church community and urged everyone to continue praying for the bishop. “We really can’t thank you enough for your prayers,” Touré said. “Keep praying, keep encouraging—it means a lot to our family.”

The church has not disclosed further details about Jakes’ health or whether he was hospitalized. However, the statement and updates have reassured followers that he is in stable condition.

Bishop T.D. Jakes, a global spiritual leader and author, is admired by millions for his inspiring sermons and dedication to ministry. His church, The Potter’s House, remains a cornerstone of faith for its large congregation and global audience.
