Lwah Ndlunkulu pauses shows for two weeks after hospitalisation
JOHANNESBURG — Singer Lwah Ndlunkulu will miss two weeks of performances after being admitted to a medical facility for a procedure, with her scheduled Bloemfontein appearances among the first affected. Inkabi Records announced the interruption on Friday, asking fans and promoters for understanding while she attends to her health.
The label said the period of unavailability would begin with the weekend’s Bloemfontein shows and extend to subsequent bookings. It did not disclose the nature of the procedure, identify the medical facility or provide a confirmed date for her return to the stage.
Inkabi Records apologised for the disruption and wished the singer a successful procedure and recovery. Its announcement concerns Ndlunkulu’s availability, rather than confirming that every event at which she was booked has been cancelled. Fans should check with individual organisers about programme changes, replacement performers or ticket arrangements.
The news prompted messages of support from listeners and industry colleagues. Briefly reported that Virgin Music South Africa was among those wishing her a speedy recovery in the comments on the announcement, alongside fans encouraging her to take time to recover.
Born Lwandile Mtshali and raised in Hluhluwe, KwaZulu-Natal, Ndlunkulu emerged through her association with Big Zulu’s Inkabi Records. Her appearance on Umuzi eSandton helped introduce her to a wider audience before she established a solo following through songs including Ithuba, featuring Siya Ntuli, and Ngiyeza.
Her debut album, Imizwa, was released in November 2023, followed by a deluxe edition in 2024. She won Artist of the Year at both the Metro FM Music Awards and the Basadi in Music Awards in 2024, consolidating her position among South Africa’s prominent contemporary vocalists.
The statement provides no basis for speculation about a diagnosis or the seriousness of her condition. For audiences awaiting her next appearance, the immediate position is a two-week pause in bookings, with a confirmed return and any rescheduled performances still to be communicated.
