JOHANNESBURG – Businessman Kenny Kunene has caused a social media storm with a picture of naked DA leaders.
He is seen posing with a painting he says he bought for an undisclosed price.
It shows current DA leader Mmusi Maimane nude pulling a wagon, carrying naked Member of Parliament James Selfe and former leader Helen Zille.
The words ‘modern slavery’ hang from the wagon.
The DA has responded by saying Mmusi Maimane is not a lackey.
The party says it protects the rights of artists, and won’t be distracted by the picture.
Mabine Seabe, Mmusi Maimane’s spokesperson said, “It’s the same mentality that president Jacob Zuma has…….we are ready for the 3rd of August and quite frankly this is a non-issue.”
In a tweet, Kunene thanked an unnamed artist for his powerful storytelling through art.
Kunene bragged about being the proud owner, of what he calls, a masterpiece.
Some of Kunene’s Twitter followers have congratulated him for buying the painting, while others felt he is taking freedom of expression too far.
