JOHANNESBURG – The Wits SRC says the recent passing of a student seems to have been a wake-up call to the realities of depression while studying.
Kago Moeng plunged to her death from a Braamfontein building on Saturday night in an alleged suicide.
The incident has since initiated conversations on the realities of student depression on social media and at the university.
Wits SRC member Kaamil Ali says the energy on campus has been negatively affected by Moeng’s passing.
“Students still need to go through the process of mourning, especially those who were close to her. We’ll be doing follow-ups with the university early next week.”
