South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has reclaimed the top spot in the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings, surpassing Josh Hazlewood, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravichandran Ashwin.
The 29-year-old set the benchmark as the fastest South African to reach 300 Test wickets, achieving this milestone while maintaining outstanding form in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship.
Rabada’s accomplishment comes with South Africa’s recent victory over Bangladesh in Mirpur, where he claimed nine wickets.
His performance in this match played a crucial role in the Proteas’ win and helped him climb three spots in the rankings, surpassing Bumrah, Hazlewood, and Ashwin to reclaim the number one position.
Rabada last held the top ranking in February 2019 but has remained a strong contender within the top 10 since then.
Hazlewood follows Rabada, ranking second among Test bowlers, with Bumrah and Ashwin dropping to third and fourth, respectively.
Additionally, Pakistan spinner Noman Ali has entered the top 10 after an impressive performance in the third Test against England in Rawalpindi, where he took nine wickets.
This performance boosted Noman eight places to ninth overall, marking a new career high. His teammate Sajid Khan also achieved a career-best ranking, moving up 12 places to 38th with his 10-wicket performance in the same match.
New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner earned a career-high ranking, rising 30 places to 44th overall after taking 13 wickets in a series-clinching match against India in Pune.
Among batters, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra moved up eight spots to 10th, while England’s Joe Root retained his lead despite scoring low in the third Test against Pakistan.
