Pretoria – Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga will from next Monday meet with various stakeholders to address issues relating to “jobs for sale” investigation, says the Department of Basic Education.
The Minister will on 15 April release the report into the matter once all processes have been completed.
The department on Tuesday the Minister has noted statements from the South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) and the concerns they have raised.
“The Minister will not engage any stakeholders via the media but will instead address all issues at the scheduled meeting planned for April 14,” said the department.
Minister Motshekga appointed a task team after reports surfaced that certain posts for teachers were sold for cash. The department said the task team has handed in a draft final report which the Minister has received.
The department’s spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga said key to the investigation was the protection of witnesses and whistle-blowers hence the involvement of the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development and a forensic team of investigators.
Among the stakeholders expected to meet with the Minister are the Cabinet Committee which is scheduled for 5 April, Cabinet sitting on 13 April, teachers unions on 14 April and School Governing Body (SGB) associations on 15 April.
“The Minister remains committed to making the report public as she said at the time of setting up the investigation,” said the department.
