A serious multi-vehicle collision occurred on Thursday morning near Tugela Plaza on the N3 in KwaZulu-Natal, reportedly caused by a Zimbabwean truck driver attempting an illegal U-turn.
The crash involved a bus, another truck, and several vehicles, resulting in one person sustaining critical injuries.
Authorities said the bus, carrying 53 passengers, overturned during the incident, although no mass casualties were reported. Emergency services quickly responded to assist passengers and manage the scene.
The crash caused significant traffic disruptions in both directions, with lanes blocked on the northbound and southbound carriageways.
Recovery operations are ongoing, with one of the trucks already removed and efforts continuing to clear remaining wreckage.
Road users have been urged to drive cautiously and follow traffic instructions while clean-up operations proceed.
