“As the IFPWB, we firstly wish to register our unequivocal and strong condemnation of this dastardly act. We are going to court tomorrow to show support to the Khumalo family and to show the world that we are strongly against any form of women abuse”. We urge all students, women from all political parties and the society at large to come join hands with the IFPWB in one voice against violence on women and children.

As the IFPWB we call on all good men to be role models for their sons and other men and speak out when they witness domestic violence. Women and children cannot continue to live constantly under siege and exist in communities where they are not all enjoying the fruits of our constitutional democracy.

We are calling upon our citizens to stand up and speak out against the violence within their communities. Men need to be at the forefront of campaigns within communities in order send the message that violence against women and children is unacceptable wherever they live,’’ IFPWB National Chairperson, Mrs Thembeni Madlopha-Mthethwa MPL

“The sentencing in these cases should send a stern warning to all other perpetrators of violence against women and children to desist from committing such deplorable acts. We have full confidence in our law enforcement that all the implicated in the murder of Khumalo will be brought to book.

The IFPWB believes that there is an urgent need to engage everyone, men, women and children to change attitudes and behaviour in order to address a national crisis of violence against women and children.

The rising number of women and children being killed in this country proves that we have a lot of work to do to change people’s attitudes. Without a change of attitudes this country is fighting a losing battle,” concluded Mrs Madlopha-Mthethwa.

The IFPWB would like to encourage men in our society to take up an active role not only in the prevention of violence against women and children abuse, but also speak to other men to protect our women and children. We also call on all student bodies to introduce awareness programs on women violence. All institutions of higher learning must take precautionary measures to improve security to ensure the safety of students in their care.
