Government says it hopes to achieve the goals of the National Development Plan and radical economic transformation through the Industrial Policy Action Plan (IPAP).
This is according to Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies. He was speaking at the re-launch of the 10th IPAP for 2018/21 in Cape Town.
Davies is expected to give a comprehensive report on the success of the policy during his budget vote on Tuesday. He says IPAP 2018 will provide a legacy report detailing progress made over the last ten years.
“An on-going effort is required to re-industrialise and further deepen the industrial development of our country. And this must be part of the deep-seated radical economic transformation we talk about. Positive changes in our domestic economic environment suggest to us that we have somewhat a different environment to deal with the issues, but that there is necessity to bring about the structural changes in our economy remains.”
