JOHANNESBURG – Gautrain experienced technical difficulties on Wednesday morning, with disrupted routes between Sandton and Park Station.
The disruption is said to be casued by a works-train (a train used to conduct maintenance work) failing on the tracks in the Sandton vicinity.
Gautrain blamed the disruption in service on a technical difficulty.
“Gautrain buses will be used between Sandton and Park Stations until the service is fully restored.”
“Trains between Hatfield and Sandton are not affected and running to schedule.”
Gautrain Spokesperson Kesagee Nayager said, “The train service between Sandton and Park is disrupted this morning. We’ve had some technical difficulty due to a train that has failed in the Sandton vicinity. So as a result the trains from Sandton, Rosebank and Park is affected.”
“A Gautrain bus service is being used to transport passengers between these stations.”
“We are appealing to passengers to please make alternate transport arrangements when travelling between these stations.”
“Technicians are attending to the problem and we hope to fully restore services by mid-day today. ”
