BLOEMFONTEIN – In a dramatic turn of events, detectives in the Free State have arrested a 37-year-old woman in connection with the alleged murder of her husband, who was shot and killed in the Naledi section of Bohlokong on January 1, 2025.

At approximately 8:20 PM that evening, Bohlokong police were on patrol when they stumbled upon the lifeless body of a man lying in the street with gunshot wounds to his face. Authorities confirmed the victim was identified by family members, but the motive behind the brutal killing remains a mystery. The woman, who has been charged, is set to appear in the Bethlehem Magistrate’s Court on Monday, January 6, 2025, facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder, as police continue to investigate.

In a separate, thrilling development from the same province, Phuthaditjhaba police have arrested a 28-year-old man from Kudumane Village in Qwaqwa for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition after receiving a tip-off from vigilant community members.

On January 1, 2025, around 7:30 PM, police responded to a report of an individual with an unlicensed firearm at Thaba di Mmele Initiation School in Kudumane Village. Officers made a surprise visit in the early hours of January 2, 2025, and found a group of men gathered around a rock. As they approached, one suspect fled, tossing a bag to the ground in the process. The police gave chase and were assisted by some of the men in the group, ultimately apprehending the suspect.

Inside the discarded bag, they discovered a rusty shotgun with no serial number, along with a bullet. The firearm and ammunition were seized as evidence, and the suspect now faces charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm. He will appear before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate’s Court on Friday, where the investigation is expected to continue.
