Police have set up a task team that will investigate an incident in which three people were killed in the Jabavu area at Nquthu in northern KwaZulu-Natal during the weekend.
According to reports, four Mabaso family members were shot after being ambushed by unknown suspects.
The deceased were aged between 21 and 30. A 69-year-old woman is in a serious condition in hospital.
Provincial police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says officers are working around the clock to bring the perpetrators to book.
“A 69-year-old is in the hospital and in a serious condition. Therefore, we have opened four counts of murder as well as one attempted murder case. There are no arrests that have been made so far and we have intensified the team that will look at these incidents.”
