Siphiwe Mkhonza, a former Kaizer Chiefs defender has reportedly passed on following weeks of unspecified illness. Mkhonza, 44, passed away during the early hours of Tuesday.
Before making appearances with Golden Arrows and Ria Stars, Mkhonza began his professional career at Bloemfontein Celtic.
Amakhosi first saw Mkhonza at Arrows when they signed him; and he went on to play with the Glamour Boys for three years.
Mkhonza made appearances for SuperSport United, AmaZulu, and Maritzburg United among other PSL teams.
During his time with Chiefs, Mkhonza received seven Bafana Bafana caps. He also appeared in various football shows while working as a football analyst for SABC Sport. However, he took some time off air for a while and during that time, rumours circulated in the local media that he would be departing from the public broadcaster.
