Durban – Friday got off to a fiery start for a Pinetown taxi driver when his taxi burst into flames and crashed into a building.
Rescue Care paramedic Garrith Jamieson said they received an emergency call at around 6:00 with a report that a taxi was on fire on Compton Road.
“The taxi somehow just caught alight,” said Jamieson.
Everybody managed to get out unhurt and the taxi rolled away and crashed into a building where it carried on burning.
Pinetown fire services extinguished the blaze.
An investigation would be held to determine what happened.
It was not immediately clear how many passengers were inside because by the time emergency services arrived a huge crowd had gathered to watch the spectacle.
