Eskom has announced a planned nine-hour power outage in Soweto, Gauteng, due to scheduled maintenance on the distribution network. The maintenance will take place on Tuesday, 11 February, from 9:00 to 18:00, affecting residents in Braamfischer Phase 3.
“The power outage will affect customers in Braamfischer Phase 3 on Tuesday, 11 February, from 9:00 – 18:00. The interruption of electricity is necessary to perform essential maintenance on our distribution power lines,” Eskom stated.
The power utility emphasised that regular maintenance is crucial for ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the electricity supply across Gauteng.
Eskom previously conducted similar maintenance on Tuesday, 4 February, which affected customers in Braamfischer Phase 2.
For safety reasons, residents are advised to treat all electrical appliances as live during the outage.
“Eskom apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused by this maintenance. Should circumstances beyond the control of Eskom arise, the planned electricity maintenance may not proceed as communicated,” the utility added.
