DURBAN – No injuries have been reported after an apparent drive-by shooting in Durban on Saturday morning, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.
“Shortly after 10am Crisis Medical, along with local security companies and authorities, were alerted to a shooting incident at the intersection of Umhlanga Rocks Drive and Village Way in Sunningdale, north of Durban,” Crisis Medical spokesman Kyle van Reenen said.
“Reports from the scene suggest that a light motor vehicle came under high calibre fire from a passing vehicle who then fled the scene. However, the exact facts will form subject of a South African Police Service investigation. Remarkably no injuries were reported on the scene.”
The road was closed to traffic for a large part of the morning while authorities conducted their investigations, Van Reenen said.
The 15th Metro FM Music Awards will be held in Durban at the Inkosi Luthuli Convention Centre (ICC) on Saturday night.
