JOHANNESBURG – ANC branches have until the end of Wednesday to submit their nominations for leadership positions.
Secretary-General Gwede Mantashe said at least 70 percent of branches concluded the process by Monday.
Branches will send 4,731 delegates to the national elective conference, scheduled for December.
The rest of the voting delegates will come from ANC structures, like the ANC Youth League and ANC Women’s League.
On Tuesday, Mantashe said three provinces were lagging behind in terms of branch meetings. They are KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape and the North West.
“The deadline is fifteen (November) but we allow the grace into the weekend. That is what we said, into the weekend. There is no extension of the deadline. That message to allow them up into the weekend is a message to complete your BGMs because we want hundred percent of the branches to be in the conference of the ANC,” Mantashe said.
