CAPE TOWN – The DA’s Western Cape interim leader Bonginkosi Madikizela is refuting claims that he’s waiting to replace Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille.
He says it’s futile to speculate before the party’s Federal Executive meeting this weekend.
Madikizela says he has no ambitions to be the mayor.
He also denies claims that it is part of a plot to leave the provincial legislature.
Madikizela is allegedly in a relationship with the provincial Health MEC, Nomafrench Mbombo.
DA policy strictly prohibits partners or spouses to serve in the same administration.
The party is expected to decide De Lille’s fate on Sunday.
