On Thursday evening at 20h25, Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a collision at the intersection of Hesketh and Adams Roads in Hayfields, PMB. Exact detail to the crash is still speculative but reports indicate that an errant party skipped the stop sign, and crashed into the other vehicle.
Paramedics and the fire services arrived at the scene and found a female aged seventy with serious injuries, still trapped in the wreckage of her vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle, a man in his thirties, also sustained serious injuries . Firemen used the Jaws of Life to free the injured female while medics worked hand in hand to stabilise the two patients.
After the female was extricated, they spinally immobilised her on a trauma board, before she was transported to hospital under the constant care of the Netcare 911 advanced Life Support Paramedic. The other patient was treated at the scene before he was transported to hospital by another ambulance service. The South African Police service was on the scene, and will investigate the cause of the crash and preceding events.
