Cosatu in Gauteng says it will use Workers’ Day on Tuesday to address the issue of the national minimum wage. The biggest labour federation in the country will hold 14 rallies across the country.
President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the main event in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. The labour federation’s Gauteng secretary Dumisani Dakile says the national minimum wage is an achievement worth celebrating, as it will uplift many workers out of poverty.
Meanwhile, Cosatu in Mpumalanga is set to commemorate its Workers Day at the Gert Sibande region, in Ermelo, Mpumalanga. The celebrations will reflect the plight of farm workers and dwellers around those areas and in other parts of the province.
Cosatu Provincial Secretary, Thabo Mokoena, says farm dwellers have been subjected to a number of human rights violations.
