Commission to establish feasibility of free education

PRETORIA – Hearings into the feasibility of free higher education will get under way in Pretoria on Wednesday.

President Jacob Zuma established the commission in January after a spate of student protests nationally over tertiary fee hikes.

Wednesday’s meeting is expected to focus on establishing the inquiry’s scope.

Public hearings will be held countrywide.

The commission has already processed nearly 200 submissions.
