PRETORIA – An application to appeal the parole of Chris Hani’s killer will be heard in the High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday.
Correctional Services Minister Michael Masutha believes the court erred in its ruling to release Janusz Walus.
Masutha is not convinced that Walus has shown any remorse or tried hard enough to make amends with Hani’s family.
He wants permission to have the decision reviewed by the Supreme Court of Appeal.
Walus has spent 23 years behind bars for shooting the South African Communist Party leader in April 1993.
His parole sparked outrage from the ANC, SACP and the Hani family.
