This summer, the Blues have gone on a spending binge, with Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge leading a major squad revamp.
Tosin Adarabioyo, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Renato Veiga are the new additions. Promising young players Omari Kellyman, Caleb Wiley, and Marc Guiu are also included. Next year, Estevao, a Brazilian wonderkid, is also expected to join from Palmeiras
Even with these purchases, Chelsea is still looking to bolster its offensive line. Although John Dhuran of Aston Villa and Jonathan David of Lille have been linked to moves, a possible deal for Osimhen, a longtime target, might finally be imminent.
Fabrizio Romano, a transfer analyst, claims that Napoli is “looking for solutions” in relation to Osimhen, knowing that he wants to depart. Romelu Lukaku is another player the Italian team is eager to add, which may open the door to a trade.
Given Osimhen’s £110 million price tag, Napoli would anticipate paying more than just Lukaku, and it is unclear if Chelsea are willing to consider this alternative.
Osimhen has expressed his wish to leave Naples openly and has given the go-ahead to relocate to Paris Saint-Germain. However, differences over the transfer fee have caused the talks between Napoli and the Ligue 1 team to break down.
According to reports, the Nigerian striker is free to leave Napoli, where the club’s new manager Antonio Conte has made it plain that he is not in his plans. The Italian is keen to bring in Lukaku as a replacement and wants the matter settled as soon as possible.
The Nigerian international was so noticeably missing from Napoli’s starting lineup for their 4-0 preseason friendly victory over Egnatia on Sunday night. Romano brought attention to this omission on the social media platform X, speculating that Osimhen would end up at PSG or Chelsea but also hinting that Arsenal might submit a late bid.
Chelsea might try to take advantage of this deadlock to solve their goal-scoring problems, which became even more evident in the preseason as they lost to Celtic and drew with League One team Wrexham FC.
Osimhen’s wage expectations, though, might be difficult to meet because the Blues have been hesitant to offer big contracts this summer.
