KATLEHONG — The bodies of the ten ANC volunteers killed in a bus crash on Sunday will be returned to Katlehong, east of Johannesburg on Tuesday.
Authorities announced the names of the victims on Thursday afternoon.
Five men and five women died when the bus they were travelling in overturned near Winburg in the Free State.
They were all members of the governing ANC and had travelled to Port Elizabeth to attend the launch of the party’s election manifesto on the weekend.
It’s not clear when the deceased will be laid to rest, but regional ANC leaders have promised to assist with funeral arrangements.
A high-level investigation has been launched by Free State police to determine the cause of the accident.
Meanwhile, senior ANC Ekurhuleni leaders visited the Katlehong community to brief residents about friends and family members in hospital.
