JOHANNESBURG– Trade union Solidarity and four SABC journalists are expecting the Labour Court’ to rule on Monday on their dismissal by the SABC.
The four journalists represented by Solidarity – Foeta Krige, Suna Venter, Krivani Pillay, and Jacques Steenkamp – approached the court on Friday to obtain an interdict setting aside their dismissal.
Judge Rob Lagrange would indicate on Monday morning at 9am whether he would deliver judgment at 10am, Solidarity CEO Dirk Hermann said on Sunday.
“If not possible to do so on Monday, judgment would definitely be given on Tuesday.”
Solidarity was convinced they had managed to persuade the court that the dismissal of the four journalists was unlawful and in breach of legislation.
“We are convinced that our members would soon be back at work to serve the public by providing information to them,” Hermann said.
A press conference would be held immediately after the judgment, where Solidarity would present a full explanation of the ruling to members of the media.
