Angelo Agrizzi handed suspended sentence after plea deal
Former Bosasa Chief Operating Officer Angelo Agrizzi has been handed a 10-year prison sentence, wholly suspended for five years, following a plea agreement with the State.
The Pretoria High Court finalised the matter after Judge Papi Mosopa approved the agreement, which was reached due to Agrizzi’s deteriorating health.
Agrizzi faced charges of corruption and money laundering linked to Bosasa’s controversial contracts with government departments. Owing to his medical condition, he has been attending court proceedings virtually, often appearing on screen from his bed with medical tubes attached.
As part of the deal, Agrizzi is required to cooperate fully with the National Prosecuting Authority in ongoing investigations and to testify truthfully against others implicated in Bosasa-related corruption cases.
Failure to comply with these conditions will result in the activation of his suspended sentence.
