DURBAN — The trial of seven men accused of murdering rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane has been adjourned until 12 April 2027, with prosecutors still to present further evidence. All seven accused remain in custody following the latest proceedings in the Durban High Court.

The National Prosecuting Authority said more than 20 witnesses had testified since the trial began in early October. Evidence presented so far includes video footage, vehicle-tracking data, ballistic findings and financial evidence. The next session is scheduled to run from 12 April to 14 May 2027.

The April dates were already part of the trial timetable reported in August, when the prosecution and defence confirmed their readiness to proceed. The first session had been scheduled for 5 October to 6 November, followed by the second session next year. The adjournment therefore falls within a previously announced arrangement for hearing the case in separate blocks.

The accused are Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi, Lindani Zenzele Ndimande, Siyanda Eddie Myeza, Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni, Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande, Siyabonga Gezani Ndimande and Malusi Dave Ndimande. They face charges including conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of murder, multiple counts of attempted murder and firearm- and ammunition-related offences.

Forbes and Motsoane were shot dead outside Wish restaurant on Durban’s Florida Road on 10 February 2023. The seven men have pleaded not guilty, and the evidence heard during the opening session has not yet resulted in a verdict.

The next scheduled proceedings will continue the prosecution’s case, rather than move directly to judgment. The NPA’s update confirms that further State evidence will be presented when the court reconvenes in April.
