A church pickup ends in tragedy for former SABC presenter
KATLEHONG — Former SABC Sport presenter Owen Ndlovu has been found dead in Thokoza after an alleged hijacking and kidnapping while collecting his wife from church. Police are searching for three men who reportedly forced him into his own vehicle and drove away on Tuesday night.
Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the attack occurred as Ndlovu’s wife approached their vehicle. Three unknown men, one reportedly carrying a firearm, pushed her aside and forced Ndlovu into the back seat of his Ford Raptor bakkie.
His body was discovered beside a road in Thokoza on Wednesday. The vehicle was recovered separately, abandoned in Walkerville.
Nevhuhulwi said a postmortem would establish the cause of death. Police had not announced any arrests in the report.
Investigators have appealed for information that could help identify and locate the suspects. Members of the public can contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or submit information through the MySAPS app.
The recovery of Ndlovu’s body and vehicle leaves investigators working to establish what happened after the abduction and who was responsible.
