Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has unveiled a major cabinet reshuffle, confirming a significant political shift as the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) joins the ANC-led provincial government.
Speaking in Johannesburg, Lesufi announced that the EFF has moved from the opposition benches in the provincial legislature into the executive.
As part of the changes, Nkululeko Dunga has been appointed as the new MEC for Finance. He replaces Lebogang Maile, who has been reassigned to head the Education portfolio.
Lesufi said the reshuffle and inclusion of the EFF are aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery within the province. He added that the move is expected to bring greater stability to the administration.
The development marks a notable shift in Gauteng’s political landscape, with the EFF now playing a direct role in the provincial executive for the first time.
