Residents in several communities north of Tshwane are expected to experience a full day electricity outage this weekend as Eskom carries out maintenance on its power infrastructure.
The utility has announced that customers in Ga-Rankuwa, Mabopane, Motlhotlung and Winterveld will be affected by a scheduled electricity interruption on Sunday, 15 March.
The planned outage will run from 07:00 until 21:00, leaving households and businesses without power for approximately 14 hours while technicians work on the distribution network.
Planned Maintenance To Affect Several Communities
Eskom said the shutdown is necessary to allow maintenance teams to safely carry out work on the electricity infrastructure. The utility explained that the temporary interruption will enable technicians to service distribution power lines and ensure the reliability of the network.
Such maintenance forms part of Eskom’s ongoing efforts to maintain the stability of the power grid and prevent unexpected disruptions.
Safety Warning For Residents
Residents have been advised to remain cautious during the outage period. Eskom warned that electricity supply could be restored earlier than expected once the maintenance work is completed.
For safety reasons, the utility urged customers to treat all electrical appliances as if they remain live throughout the outage period.
Eskom Apologises For Inconvenience
The power utility acknowledged that the scheduled interruption may cause disruption for both residents and businesses in the affected areas. Eskom thanked customers for their cooperation while the maintenance work is carried out.
However, the utility noted that the schedule may still change if unforeseen circumstances arise that prevent the maintenance from proceeding as planned.
Residents in the affected communities are encouraged to prepare in advance by charging devices and making alternative arrangements for the duration of the outage.
