Johannesburg – LIV Golf has taken a decisive step in cementing its presence across the African continent with the renewal of its broadcast partnership with SuperSport, ensuring that millions of viewers across Sub-Saharan Africa will have access to live coverage of the 2026 LIV Golf League season.

The renewed agreement, announced ahead of LIV Golf’s first-ever tournament on South African soil, will see SuperSport broadcast all 14 events on the 2026 calendar. The season spans 10 countries and five continents, including stops in Australia, Asia, Europe, North America and Latin America, reflecting the league’s increasingly global footprint. SuperSport operates as part of the Canal+ Group, further extending LIV Golf’s reach into international markets.

The announcement comes as anticipation builds for LIV Golf South Africa, scheduled to take place from March 19 to 22, 2026 at The Club at Steyn City. The Johannesburg event has already emerged as one of the fastest-selling tournaments on the 2026 schedule, signalling strong local demand and positioning South Africa as a key growth market for the league.

SuperSport’s renewed involvement follows its broadcast of Greens & Gold, a five-part documentary series that offered behind-the-scenes access to LIV Golf’s all-South African team, Southern Guards GC. The series explored team culture, competitive pressures and life on tour, providing African audiences with an intimate look at how South African players are shaping LIV Golf’s identity.

The upcoming South African event carries particular national significance, anchored by the Southern Guards roster led by major champion Louis Oosthuizen. He is joined by fellow South Africans Branden Grace, Dean Burmester, and Open Championship winner Charl Schwartzel, a lineup that has helped drive local enthusiasm ahead of the historic Johannesburg stop.

SuperSport executives described the partnership as more than a broadcast agreement, framing it as an opportunity to elevate African golf on a global stage. The broadcaster highlighted its integration into the Canal+ ecosystem as a means to showcase South African events to international audiences while investing in the technical and production standards required to meet global expectations.

From LIV Golf’s perspective, the renewed partnership reflects the league’s broader strategy to grow the game through innovation, entertainment-driven storytelling and expanded access. The league has positioned Africa as a strategically important region, citing SuperSport’s scale and production expertise as critical to delivering its fast-paced, team-oriented format to viewers across diverse markets.

Through the agreement, African fans will continue to follow not only the Southern Guards but also many of the sport’s most recognisable names, including Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, Joaquín Niemann, Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Sergio García, and Tyrrell Hatton.

The 2026 season also marks a shift in LIV Golf’s competitive structure, with tournaments now played over four rounds and 72 holes, while retaining the league’s signature shotgun start. Organisers argue that the format delivers more continuous action within a condensed broadcast window, a feature designed to appeal to both traditional golf fans and new audiences.

As preparations intensify for the March showdown in Johannesburg, the SuperSport partnership positions LIV Golf to reach its widest African audience yet. For South African fans, the convergence of local heroes, global stars and a home event represents a milestone moment, one that could redefine the continent’s role in elite professional golf.
