Eskom has announced that planned maintenance outages will continue as part of its preparations for the upcoming winter season.
This comes after the power utility suspended Stage 3 load shedding on Sunday morning, which had been reinstated the previous Friday.
According to Eskom, over 300 megawatts of generation capacity were recovered, along with the replenishment of emergency energy reserves.
Spokesperson Daphne Mokwena said the utility is working to bring an additional 4,091 megawatts back online by Monday.
Despite ongoing constraints in baseload capacity, Eskom remains optimistic about the progress of its generation recovery plan, which is aimed at improving stability and reducing the likelihood of further load shedding.
Structural improvements in the power generation fleet are said to be supporting this positive outlook, with Eskom indicating that the worst of load shedding may be over.
Continued maintenance remains a priority to ensure the grid can withstand the higher consumption expected during the colder season.
