Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson is undertaking an official working visit to the Middle East from today until 28 February. The visit will encompass stops in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
Accompanying Minister Macpherson are Ernest Rachoene, MEC for Public Works and Infrastructure in Limpopo, and Thembubuhle Ntuli, Chairperson of the eThekwini Municipality Economic Development and Planning Committee.
This visit aligns with Minister Macpherson’s commitment to securing infrastructure investment for South Africa, aiming to transform the country into a dynamic construction hub. This initiative is anticipated to stimulate economic growth and create employment opportunities.
In each country visited, Minister Macpherson and his delegation will engage in discussions with government counterparts, sovereign wealth funds, state-owned enterprises, and private sector companies capable of investing in South African infrastructure projects.
The Middle East presents significant untapped potential for South Africa’s infrastructure sector, as it has historically seen limited investment from this region.
