Vinicius Junior will be available for Real Madrid’s next La Liga game against Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday, May 24, after the Brazilian’s red card was overturned.
The 22-year-old Real Madrid forward was given his marching orders for slapping Hugo Duro after being manhandled by the Valencia player during their La Liga clash on Sunday, May 21.
The decision to rescind Vinicius Jr’s red card was announced on Tuesday evening.
Vinicius Jr could now be included in Real Madrid’s squad on Wednesday if he overcomes a slight knee injury. He will undergo tests on Wednesday morning to determine if he will feature.
Valencia have been hit with a partial stadium closure for five matches in the aftermath of the racist abuse aimed at Vinicius Jr by a section of their support.
The football fraternity have come together to show their support to Vinicius Jr with Raphinha displaying a message of support for his compatriot while playing for rivals Barcelona on Tuesday night.
Raphinha removed his shirt when he was replaced in the 63rd minute of Barcelona’s 3-1 defeat at Real Valladolid to reveal a quote which Vinicius Jr has tattooed on his skin.
The message and tattoo reads in English: “As long as the colour of the skin is more important than the glow of the eyes, there will be war.”
