Our endeavors to root out gang related crime in our communities paid off with the arrest of a 22 year old suspect during the early hours of this morning in Downberg Road Hanover Park, Philippi for being in possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. Members of the Philippi Crime Prevention unit were conducting duties in the area when they came across a suspicious person who was searched. The 7.65 revolver was seized and the circumstances surrounding the matter are now being investigated. The suspect is due to make a court appearance in Athlone on Monday.
