Amakhosi find themselves in seventh position on the PSL log with just 17 points from their opening 12 matches of the season
Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse has sympathized with Steve Komphela, who has gone eight matches without a win in all competitions.
Pieterse, who played a few games under Komphela last season, is however, confident the former Free State Stars mentor will turn things around at Chiefs.
He left Amakhosi for SuperSport United at the end of 2015/16 PSL season.
“I feel for coach Steve. For me, [he is] one of the best and most humble people I ever met in my life,” Pieterse told the media on Tuesday.
He added that every team wants beat Chiefs, saying that every game is more lke a cup final when you’re a ‘Glamour Boy’.
“It’s tough [the situation Chiefs find themselves in]. At the end of the day everybody wants to beat Chiefs. Every game that Chiefs play is a cup final because players are trying to market themselves against them, especially teams like Bloemfontein Celtic and Highlands Park,” he said.
Pieterse revealed that it’s not nice to see Chiefs struggling for results, but he’s confident they will bounce back.
“At the end of the day, Chiefs and [Orlando] Pirates are the biggest teams in the country, including Sundowns now,” he continued.
“It’s not nice to see them not doing as well as I know they can, but I do think the tables will turn and they will bounce back from this,” Pieterse added.
