African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa says in signing the Electoral Code of Conduct the ANC reaffirms its commitment to the democratic process so hard fought for.
Ramaphosa was speaking in Midrand, Johannesburg, where political parties are signing the Electoral Code of Conduct in the lead-up to the May 8 polls.
Each political leader has been given a minute to speak before signing the document. Ramaphosa says the ANC will abide by the will of the people and will continue to work towards a united, democratic South Africa.
“We are bound as we are gathered here by the responsibility that the will of the people truly prevails. By upending our signature to the Electoral Code of Conduct we as the ANC are affirming the commitment that we made in Kliptown in 1955 and signaling our resolve to work with all parties to build a strong, dynamic and durable democracy in SA.”
