Former Cape Town MayorPatricia de Lillehas launched themanifestoof her new party,GOOD,in Cape Town on Tuesday which she described as a plan to fix South Africa.

De Lille told a media briefing that her party will tackle the issue of racism to realise a dream of a united country. She says the party will have a zero-tolerance approach to racism, gender discrimination, corruption and poverty.

De Lille says her party, GOOD, will lead this country to a better future not locked in the past. She has told journalists that central to what the party wants to do is to deal with racism.

De Lille says after 25 years of democracy, the country must reflect what has been achieved and what still needs to be done. She says this country needs leaders with courage to deal with what she called the “socialised structural racism and sexism” in the society.

“GOOD will fight for a country where we increasingly share the reality that your race and gender will not determine your future. Transformation of our socio-economic system also requires uprooting the roots of poverty and dismantling the foundation of unearned privilege in our country.”

De Lille says GOOD will continue to fight for a just society.

“GOOD would like to see we build a country where more people can taste the fruit of our democracy. Our new democracy of 25 years only, a few people are tasting the fruits and we will make sure that we broaden the base of those people that must taste the fruits of new democracy.”

Director of The Political Futurist Consultancy says the GOOD party has outlined core issues but says the question is whether it will get enough support at the polls #sabcnews pic.twitter.com/KpdRAcpF9T

Director of The Political Futurist Consultancy, Daniel Silke says the manifesto of the GOOD party is a reflection of a party that doesn’t have adequate time to develop policies in detail.

Silke says De Lille has managed to outline core issues that other political parties have also outlined.

“She’s touched the right points. I think her concentration on social justice; it’s something that has been missing from other political parties, but ‘there’s’ nothing in the manifesto that delivers innovative policy-making in order to really say this is the answer to South Africa; certainly not in its current fashion.”

Silke says the party is also racing against time and that this might be an impediment in the general elections
